Obama — A year later
A year ago this week was one of the most exciting times in many American’s lives took place. We watched as Illinois Senator Barack Obama was elected as the 44th President of the United States. It was billed as a transformational election. One that would unify a fractured country possibly “Change” the world.
Now here we are a year later and many have already started asking where is the Change? We still have an economy that is spiraling out of control, massive unemployment, two wars in the Middle East and a society that seems to be losing bits of its moral compass every day. People on the right and the left of the political spectrum have started to question why Obama hasn’t fixed these ills yet.
Like most Americans, I want things in a hurry. I have grown accustomed to not having to wait for almost anything. Unfortunately, we have that same attitude when it comes to solving the world’s problems.
Obama has already done many things that have benefited the country. But I also believe there are things Obama and his administration could be doing better. I hope he would agree. Yet, we still have to give them time to see where he is going to lead us and then decide if that’s a road we want to go down.
What I want to know is what are your impressions of this past year since the election of President Barack Obama? What has been good and what has been bad? If you voted, do you still think you voted the right way, whether you voted for Obama or not?

Michael..Hope is fine. Maybe still time to see some positive results.
A look at the final tallies in Virginia and New Jersey are instructive, though, of course, the White House, having spent a ton of the taxpayers money to promote the Democrat candidates, pooh poohs the outcome as simply of local significance.
Rather than extensively air my concerns about folks like Dodd, Frank, Rangle, Pelosi, Murtha, Emanuel and Reid, I will simply say that as a good Democrat I voted first for Hillary, and could have supported her in the General Election. As it was, and because of the folks who apparently were pulling the strings on President Obama, and still are, I voted for John McCain.
Michael, I think President Obama’s choice of the fork in the road is clear. I will continue to support qualified candidates of both parties, and try to keep in mind that my roots are in the Democrat Party, but President Obama is making it mighty tough. As of now, I’m taking the road he’s not travelling.

Michael, I see no hope in Obama’s choices regardless of the time given to him. In fact, I think if he is given to much time he will sell the country ouright! Personally I am tired of the media continually trying to paint this rosie picture of a person who degrades our nation, belittles our people and our faith and spends more time with our enimies and bowing down to them than he does in his office! Wake up! He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing and regardless of what he says or does…everyone thinks him wonderful. Well not me. If President Bush would have tried to do and say halh the things this man has they would have tried to impeach him. However Obama is black and can do no wrong!

Bdonhunter, believe, I am awake. I have seen many of the changes that have taken place in the short time Obama has been in office. People who had no hope they could ever amount to anything now know they have a chance to make something out of themselves. The fact that you compare Obama’s attempt at diplomacy as selling the country shows how far off course we were during the previous administration. I disagree with your hypothis. Many of the thins Bush did were impeachable acts, yet he skated out of office scott free.
But to your most pressing point that the only reason that Obama has not been impeached is because he is black. If that was true, this may be the first time in the history of the United State that being black has been seen as a way to get out of trouble. But that is not th case here. There are people in this country who do not like him for a variety of reasons and just do not want to give him the chance and time they have given other Presidents. What they fail to understand is that when Obama does well, the country does well. Hopefully you will understand that one day also.
